Dato Racer

The design process of our latest release began with a clear goal in mind: to create a simple, legible wristwatch showing hours, minutes, seconds, and the date — an ideal watch for day-to-day wear.  

Then, this straightforward premise evolved, becoming a passion project, leading to a reexamination of some favorite vintage references, especially those from the 1970s.  

The resulting watch is the Massena LAB Dato-Racer, the latest chapter of the "Racer" collection, which began in 2020 with the release of the Massena LAB Uni-Racer. 

The Dato-Racer is a sleek, Swiss made, 1970s-inspired, self-winding wristwatch, with a black, sunburst dial, distinctive white Arabic numerals, applied baton indexes, a red crosshair, a matching red sweep seconds hand, and date. 

The Dato-Racer is fitted inside 40mm stainless steel case, with a polished, reflective bezel, brushed lugs, and a sapphire crystal. The Dato-Racer is equipped with an Italian-made, perforated racing strap made from black calfskin, a red calfskin lining, and a signed, stainless steel pin buckle.

Powering the Dato-Racer is a Swiss movement, the Sellita caliber SW400-1, with 38 hours of power reserve, 28’000 vibrations per hour, and 26 jewels. 

The Massena LAB Dato-Racer is a limited-edition of 99 pieces, offered exclusively to friends, family of Massena LAB.
