We chose it because it is the clearest way to understand an Open Gear. The wheels that drive the regulator display are screwed onto the dial right in front of you, set against hand-guilloché silver and blue. It is the calm one of the family, and only 50 were made.PRJKT8
Chronoswiss is at home in Lucerne, and this Open Gear was made to celebrate its atelier and boutique there, in silver and blue taken from the white and blue of the city’s seal. Limited to 50 pieces.
Open Gear is the idea: skeletonised wheel bridges are screwed onto the dial, which doubles as the module board, so the gears turn in plain view. Hours sit off centre at 12 o’clock and small seconds at 6 o’clock, in blue CVD rings over hand-guilloché galvanic silver.
The automatic C.299 has a blue skeletonised rotor and about 42 hours of reserve. The steel case is 41 mm across, 13.85 mm thick and water resistant to 100 m.
