Antarctique Frozen Meteor
Description
The dial of the Frozen Meteor started out in space, which makes it the oldest part of the watch by some distance. It is a thin slice of Gibeon, the iron meteorite found in Namibia, so no two dials are the same.
Czapek washes each slice in acid and polishes it by hand until the Widmanstätten lines appear, the criss-cross of crystals that grew as the metal cooled. Then a light blue lacquer goes on and is polished again, which is where the frozen look comes from.
Around it is the Antarctique’s 40.5 mm steel case, 10.6 mm thick and water resistant to 120 m, on the integrated steel bracelet with a folding clasp. Inside is the in-house SXH5, wound by a platinum micro-rotor, with a 60-hour power reserve. Limited to 38 pieces.
