Description
On the Russian Code the hands run anticlockwise. The first few readings take a moment’s thought. Clockwise, it turns out, was only ever a habit.
Raketa’s reasoning is planetary: the planets of the Solar System travel round the Sun anticlockwise, so here the time does too, and the dial is laid out to match.
The faceted case has rounded curves, and the layered dial uses two coatings on its indexes for real depth. Sapphire on top, a synthetic ruby in the crown, Super-LumiNova on the hands.
The automatic movement, made and assembled at Raketa’s factory in St Petersburg and built to turn the hands backwards, has 40 hours of power reserve. The 39.5 mm steel case is water resistant to 5 ATM, on a leather strap.
