Malevich Cross 0311
Description
Time taking shape
The Raketa Malevich Cross is the result of the Factory’s collaboration with the prestigious Russian Museum (in St. Petersburg) which is home to Malevich’s entire geometric cycle including the Black Cross.
According to Malevich’s concept, the cross is the most complex form of the cycle. Due to its vertical and horizontal lines, the cross connects active and passive elements, embodying the unity of spiritual and earthly principles. Malevich regarded the simple geometric shape of a cross — along with a square and a circle, — as a traditional symbol of the Universe. It therefore also refers to Raketa’s DNA which is directly linked to the Cosmos and its representation in art.
The dial is made of genuine semi-precious stones selected for their visual resemblance to the painting. Laconic in colour and shape, the watch model allows for limitless interpretations, just like Malevich’s abstract works.
The mechanical movement of the watch is produced from A to Z at the Raketa Watch Factory in St. Petersburg and expertly decorated by the Factory’s masters. Malevich’s entire geometric cycle is printed on the oscillating weight.
The Raketa Malevich Cross model is limited to 500 pieces.
