We chose it for clients who like the engineering more than the paint. In plain metal, the vertical L'Epée movement is easier to follow from across the room, and Neil, in polished silver, looks right at home. It runs for 8 days, which is longer than most of us leave a desk.PRJKT8
In the Nickel edition, Destination Moon is all about the metal: palladium-plated brass, stainless steel and nickel-plated steel, which leaves the eye free to follow the movement up the rocket.
L'Epée 1839 built that movement for this clock and laid it out like a real launcher. The power sits in the base, wound by the propulsion wheel; the balance works above it behind a pane of mineral glass that keeps fingers off; the time sits on top, stamped on steel discs.
It runs for 8 days from a single barrel, with 17 jewels and 164 components. Neil, the astronaut in solid silver, is held to the ladder by a magnet. Made in Switzerland, 41.4 cm tall. Limited to 50 pieces in each colour.
