Aventurine is glass with metal flecks suspended in it, so this black dial sparkles under a lamp in a way no paint can.
Stepan Sarpaneva first worked with stone and glass dials at Piaget, and here he puts one inside the Vetehinen, the S.U.F diver named after a water spirit of Finnish myth and a wartime submarine. Silver print, Super-LumiNova indexes and black hands keep it readable.
The 42 mm case is Finnish Outokumpu steel with a gear-edged one-way bezel, a screw-down Sarpaneva crown and 300 m water resistance. A modified Swiss Soprod A10 runs it: automatic, 42 hours of power reserve. Limited to 12 pieces, with a black salmon leather strap and a black rubber one.
