Raketa’s factory stands on the Baltic in St Petersburg, and has a long record of making watches for Soviet submariners. The Sonar carries that on.
Its hands take their shape from those on Soviet submarine control panels. The dial runs on 24 hours, so crews could tell day from night on long missions underwater, and 6 red and blue lines divide it into 4-hour watches for counting shifts. Dial and hands carry Super-LumiNova.
Inside is Raketa’s automatic calibre 2624A, with 40 hours of power reserve and a turquoise rotor that winds in both directions, which Raketa notes helps in a submarine’s cramped quarters. The 44 mm steel case has a screw-down crown and is water resistant to 20 ATM.
It comes on a rubber strap with quick-change bars.
Specifications
Colours can look slightly different on screen.
