The deep blue eye of this T-Rex is hand-blown Murano glass, and it is also the dial. Two slim steel hands arc out from its centre to show the hours and minutes.
MB&F designer Maximilian Maertens drew the legs from digital scans of real Tyrannosaurus fossils. They are built in stainless steel, palladium-plated brass and bronze, with polished and sandblasted sections alternating down each limb. The joints look ready to move, but they are fixed, so it stays where you put it.
Behind the eye sits L'Epée 1839’s in-house movement of 138 components, placed where a brain would be. One key does both jobs: it sets the time at the centre of the dial and winds the movement at the back, for 8 days at a time.
It stands 265 mm tall and weighs about 2 kg. Limited to 100 pieces in deep blue.
