TYPE 10 began in 2022 as a few sketches on Post-its, stuck to Benoît Mintiens’s computer screen. Four years later, it is Ressence’s first oil-filled watch powered by its own movement.
Today the brand introduces the TYPE 10 DN, for Dark Night, limited to 100 pieces. Case, dial and integrated rubber strap share one deep blue, and the oil draws the dial up towards the crystal, so the watch reads as a single carved object.

There are no hands. Rotating discs show the hours, minutes, a second time zone and a runner that doubles as a shock absorber. A colour inside the hour disc tells you the temperature of the oil.
Behind that calm surface sit two sealed worlds. The self-winding RW-04 beats in air; the display glides through oil. Magnets pass the movement across a titanium membrane 0.1 mm thick, with no shaft and no opening.
“It should feel as if it is one seamless object,” says Mintiens. “Almost as if you took a piece of material and carved the watch out of it.”
All the engineering stays inside. What reaches the wrist is a light, quiet watch that waits until you look at it.
