Astronomia Regulator

A regulator gives the hours, minutes and seconds each their own place on the dial. Jacob & Co. kept that layout and set it spinning.

The hand-wound JCAM56 is built on a vertical platform that turns once every 60 seconds. One arm carries a flying tourbillon, which also turns on its own axis in 60 seconds. The other carries the hours and minutes on blue domed sub-dials, kept upright by a differential as everything around them rotates. A long gold hand reads the seconds off a translucent blue ring that runs counter-clockwise.

A constant-force device keeps the energy steady while the platform turns. 552 components, a 28-hour power reserve, and a 43 mm case in 18-carat rose gold whose caseband is a single block of sapphire, so the movement shows from the side. Limited to 99 pieces, on blue alligator leather.
