Promenade L’Écume des Jours

Boris Vian’s novel has a piano that mixes cocktails and a water lily that grows in Chloé’s lung. CZAPEK has put both on a dial, and the result is lovely rather than strange.

The base is blue Grand Feu enamel by Donzé Cadrans, rippled in the Goutte d’Eau pattern. Around it runs a ring of pearled mother-of-pearl laid out as piano keys, each black key painted by hand. At 4:30 a laser-worked jade disc carries the seconds track, and the seconds hand is a water lily cut from titanium and painted in miniature.

Inside the 38 mm steel case, 10.8 mm thick, is the in-house SXH5.1, with a recycled 950 platinum micro-rotor, beating at 4 Hz with a 60-hour power reserve. Water resistant to 50 m.
