Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin Purple
by Louis Erard
Louis Erard and Konstantin Chaykin have collaborated to create a unique timepiece that features a large round eye as the hour indicator. The inspiration for this design comes from Konstantin Chaykin's interest in Halloween-themed monsters, particularly the one-eyed Slavic character called Likho.
The watch also features a disc with pointed teeth at the small second at six o'clock, which resembles the devouring mouth of an ogre. The minute hand completes the creature's appearance, crossing the dial and giving it "two hands turning in a circle." Additionally, the watchmaker has played with specific finger combinations to give the watch the appearance of an arrow.
The meaning behind the design is left up to interpretation. This watch is an example of cross-inspiration from various sources, including Francisco Goya's Saturn devouring one of his sons and Stephen King's The Langoliers. Overall, this watch is a unique and interesting creation that blends watchmaking and art to create a one-of-a-kind timepiece.
